To some people, the idea of having a fixed aesthetic is important: It saves time and effort in coordinating outfits by streamlining wardrobes with the same pieces of clothing. But what if you don't like following the norm? What if you feel following the trends on Tiktok or Instagram is overrated? What if you feel like experimenting with different styles? Faez (@fa.e.zin) shows us how he incorporates different fashion genres into his daily life.

"I'm not a trend follower, I find following trends overrated. I'm an experimentalist: whatever catches my eye, I'll pick it up and find ways to play with it. That's how I curate my wardrobe."
Outfit breakdown:
Outer: Calvin Klein, thrifted three-pocket blazer (@calvinklein)
T-shirt: Uniqlo, women's oversized cotton t-shirt (@uniqlosg)
Bottoms: thrifted, straight-cut office pants (@lpbthrift)
Footwear: Nike x Off-White Air Jordan 1 High "NRG White" (@nike, @off____white)
Accessories: Louis Vuitton, basic monogram (@louisvuitton), Comme dés Garçons SHIRT, brown paper tote bag (@commedesgarcons)
TRIAL AND ERROR
Faez's style differs from the average Singaporean: he mixes in different pieces from different genres. You rarely see someone pairing high-cut basketball sneakers with a two-piece outfit that came straight out of Ocean's Eleven. It sounds ludicrous if you think about it, but for some reason, Faez pulls it off perfectly. So much so that this particular outfit was featured on the popular clothing site Grailed (@grailed).

"I'm not a trend follower, I find following trends overrated. I'm an experimentalist: whatever catches my eye, I'll pick it up and find ways to play with it. That's how I curate my wardrobe," he once said. Despite this, his perception is in sync with the modern-day curating Instagrammer, where trying out new combinations of clothing is more interesting than just sticking to one form of style. What makes it enjoyable is the ability to add or remove different elements of an outfit, which would either elevate the whole silhouette or disrupt its flow.

Being unique always takes second priority when dressing up. In a country that thrives on following the hype and the latest trends, Faez shows that standing out and being true to yourself gives you the chance to explore the undiscovered parts within.
